            Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Internship

 

 

 


The Norwalk Parking Authority mission is to advocate for downtown development and commerce supporting mobility, sustainability, growth and improvement while creating easy to park and pay options through mobile platforms and wayfinding systems and to enhance economic development using best practices and provide opportunities to the community through financially balanced parking programs, smartparking technologies, security systems and community collaboration while overseeing the management, operation, facilities, and maintenance of over 4,000 on and off-street parking spaces.

 

The Norwalk Parking Authority seeks a GIS intern to assist in the development of mapping the on street parking regulatory areas and assist in mapping other transportation and parking related needs in Norwalk.  Primary duties include data acquisition, data management, creating management reports, and field data collection using a tablet with ArcGIS Online.  Majority of the work will be performed in the field with office time to conduct research and data quality control.  The duration of this position is dependent on project completion with expectations of 3-6 months. Pay for this internship position is $15.00 per hour with up to 37.5 hours of work per week.

 

 

Required Skills

 

• Bachelor’s degree or in pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Engineering, Planning or other technical field with an emphasis in GIS

• ArcGIS Desktop 10.x, ArcGIS Online, Collector for ArcGIS

• Ability to follow instructions, communicates clearly, and works independently

• Excellent and demonstrated verbal and written communications skills
