Pam,

You might want to watch this video on our YouTube channel which talks about this in some detail - https://youtu.be/tH7JemkC7SM

I have been using ArcGIS Pro since it was in beta. So I have had the chance to test it on multiple systems. In general terms I recommend the following at a minimum:

  1. Quad core processor or better
  2. 16 GB RAM
  3. Dedicated video card with at least 4GB RAM
  4. Solid State Hard Drive for OS and Programs

I just built myself an AMD Ryzen based system to test ArcGIS Pro out on it. So far it has been great. Past AMD processors have been no good with Esri products but this new Ryzen is working out amazing well and is cheaper than Intel products of similar capability. Here is a video which shows my computer components - https://youtu.be/YiWHgyAmFjE. For your raster analysis, a Ryzen 7 2700X, CPU would be a great option. It has 8 cores with 16 threads, so it should really perform well on your raster analysis. If you wanted to go really high end you could go with an AMD Threadripper or Intel Xeon processor. Threadrippers have any where from 12 cores and 24 threads up to 32 cores and 64 threads.  Intel Xeon processors have similar capabilities.

The good thing is that prices for video cards and RAM are dropping from what they were this time last year.  So you should be able to get some good pricing for a system capable of running ArcGIS Pro.

Hi folks,

We are in need of a couple of new computers that will run ArcPro.  One of them will need to run spatial analyst and we want it to be able to do processing that we are currently incapable of doing with our DELL Precision Tower 5810.  We want to be able to run analyses on raster mosaics for our area so curious out there what type/size of processors, RAM you all are using to run spatial analysis. Our IT company only buys HPs.

Thanks!

Pam
