Good Morning.

Have you ever wanted to mentor a young adult interested in geospatial technology? Or, do you have a teen in your family who might be interested in mapping or conservation science? Maybe a partner, friend, or family member that is a high school science teacher? If you answered yes to any of these, then check out the opportunities below. Please help me spread the word and feel free to reach out to me if you have any specific questions. Thank you! - Cary, CT GIS Network Education Chair

The CT Maps Competition
This is a free opportunity for middle and high school students to be recognized for their mapping work and win cash prizes or even a trip to the 2019 Esri Education Conference in San Diego. With the help of a teacher or geomentor, students will need to create an ArcGIS Online mapping app or story map. Registration deadline is next Friday, March 22. Apps need to be submitted by May 8, 2019. Natural Resources Conservation Academy, CTP
The Conservation Training Program (CTP) is a NSF-funded project that trains teens and adults in geospatial technology and conservation stewardship. Teams participate in a free 2-day workshop and learn to use conservation and mapping tools in the field. They then go on to design and complete a small conservation project in their community. To date, the NRCA has trained over 260 participants and completed 187 community projects in CT. If you'd like to participate as an adult partner, OR if you have a teen or teacher in the family who may benefit from this or other NRCA programs (there are two others, both for teens and teachers!), please visit the NRCA website to learn more about these opportunities: https://nrca.uconn.edu<https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fnrca.uconn.edu&data=02%7C01%7C%7C17584df90a3745b2fa8f08d6a88f050f%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C636881729548703451&sdata=j6YSTdMN4jcGSlglYFeuuXqqKBU11lxXV4e7YXO4qp8%3D&reserved=0> There are THREE free CTP workshops coming up across the state in June. Registration deadlines are approaching.
