GIS Educators Day Agenda Announced

GIS Educators Day, is a full-day pre-conference devoted exclusively to topics and issues pertaining to the use of GIS and other geospatial technologies in K-12, college, and informal education. It's held annually on the Sunday before the Fall NEARC Conference (Sunday, October 20, 2019). The theme of the day is Global Citizen Science with GIS: Learn Today. Teach Tomorrow. 

 

 

Reorganization of Technical Presentation Schedule to Highlight MEGUG Day on Monday, October 21!

Several updates and changes have recently been made to the schedule of technical presentations on Monday through Wednesday of the Fall NEARC Conference. We invite you to review the updated agenda online (as of September 12) and note Maine GIS Users Group presenters highlighted on Monday.

Attendee registration is open for the 2019 Fall NEARC Conference! Please join us Sunday, October 20 - Wednesday, October 23 at Sunday River Resort in Newry, Maine.

 

Discounted registration rates are available for signing up early (by September 20) and for staying at the host hotel, the Sunday River Resort (see details below).

Monday, October 21 is MEGUG Day at NEARC! Members of the Maine GIS Users Group are invited to participate. Learn more.

 

Book Your Overnight Accommodations

 

Overnight accommodations are available to conference participants at Sunday River at a discounted group rate of $115/night plus tax. Reservations must be made by Friday, September 27 to receive the group rate. To make a reservation, call the Resort at 1-800-207-2365 and request a room in the Fall NEARC (Northeast Arc Users Group) Conference group block. Learn more.

 

A limited number of lower cost rooms ($91/night; below per diem) are available at an nearby property on the resort campus IF we can come up with 20 people interested in reserving them by Tuesday, September 24! Please contact Leslie Pelch ASAP if you would like to save money! [log in to unmask]

 

Download the Conference App!

NEARC has decided to transition to a conference app for a few key reasons outlined below.

 

1.   Attendee convenience – the app can be personalized to your schedule, reflects the most up-to-date information, and provides a platform for interaction

2.   Conservation of resources – the concise schedule grid that will be printed uses much less paper than the full program!

3.   Conservation of funds – the concise schedule grid that will be printed costs much less than the full program!

 

The app contents are available to view through the regular NEARC website, or on your mobile device. Please note: viewing the app online without downloading the app limits app functionality. Everyone is encouraged to download the app.

 

To use the app to your mobile device, download “Attendify” from the app store, then search within the app for “NEARC”. To access the program details, click on “2019 Fall NEARC Conference”, and then “Join”. Please note: event information is being added to the app as the Conference nears. The app will include: keynote speaker bios, the technical schedule, an interactive hotel floor plan, sponsor directory, and more.
