Have students using Collector with iPhones and I've used it extensively
with iPad. Only issue I've seen with syncing is when the system is trying
to sync over a cellular connection. On field trips/fieldwork, I don't
attempt sync until back where we are on a good WiFi network.

Just my 2 cents
