GIS Positions Available


Broad Function:

These positions are part of the GIS Team within the Engineering & Planning department of the Aquarion Water Company of Connecticut. These positions are primarily responsible for the development, maintenance and quality of GIS information.

Principal Responsibilities and Activities:

Scan drawings and other documents to update and maintain in GIS.
Update and maintain various records management systems related to water utility assets. Responds to internal and external mapping requests.
Integrates AutoCAD files into GIS.
Performs analysis, queries and reports using GIS data.
GPS fieldwork for asset verification.
Performs monthly QA/QC of GIS database.
Develops specialized maps as needed for various departments in the organization.
Works with supervisor to develop efficiencies in workflows and new GIS applications.

Qualifications:

Minimum four year college degree in Computer Science, Geography, Engineering, Environmental Science or related technical field plus 0-5 years of experience in GIS or water related fields. Thorough knowledge of ESRI GIS software; knowledge of field data collection methods using GPS; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of plotting and scanning equipment; knowledge of using AutoCAD in ESRI products.
