Dear international students and scholars, It is difficult to believe that it is almost July. We have been dealing with the pandemic in Connecticut since March, and some may have been feeling the effects as far back as January. Please know that even though ISSS staff are working remotely, it remains our priority to support you, and to help you understand your immigration situation and the resources available to you. We hope that you will contact us with any questions you have at [log in to unmask] Entry Restrictions from Certain Countries Remember, entry restrictions are still in place for travelers from certain countries, even if you have a valid visa. If you travel to the U.S., and you were present in any of the countries within the 14 days prior to arrival, you may not enter the U.S.: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, China, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Iran, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Even if you are able to schedule a visa appointment, or book a flight from one of these countries, the entry restriction still stands. If you are from a country that is not entry-restricted, you should also be careful not to transit one of these countries when flying to the U.S., as this could also subject you to entry restrictions. We do not know when these restrictions will be lifted, or if more countries will become subject to restriction. Crossing from Canada to the U.S. at land borders is still restricted to essential travel until July 21, and this date could be extended. While attending school is considered an “essential travel” reason, we have heard reports of travelers having trouble crossing the land border, even when returning to school. Air travel from Canada to the U.S. is currently not restricted. Online Courses for Fall 2020 Many students have contacted ISSS with questions about course enrollment for fall, and specifically, what to do if you want to take all online courses in the fall. You do not need to “apply” to be an online student - you can simply enroll in all online courses, if this is your wish or need.
