Hello NEARC! I hope everyone is well and safe. I’m not sure if I sent this questions before, but I figured I would try, or try again. I’ve got a relatively good work flow for building and converting Sketchup models to multipatch. Everything
works great except for the very last step of the actual conversion to multipatch. The model ends up very very close to it’s actual coordinates, but ends up slightly rotated when used with other GIS data in ArcGIS Pro. My process is long and convoluted for
various reasons, but for short: The model is built from CAD drawings in sketchup. Each appropriate CAD drawing is used for building footprints in GIS. I then calculate the centroid of each building with lat and long, and export the footprint and centroid
to DWG, import into AutoCAD, save back to DWG and then import into SketchUp. I then assign the location in sketchup to the centroid coordinate for the building and place the model where it should be. The I use FME to translate the sketchup model to multipatch.
The whole things works well except for the that slight rotation such that model no longer lines up with the other data. In any event, I didn’t know if anyone had any insights or a better process.
