Faculty position(s) in Geography at the University of Connecticut

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Connecticut (UConn) invites applications for four positions at the level of Assistant Professor (#17334, 494836) and two positions at the Associate or Full Professor level (#17339, 494839) as part of a cluster hire in Environment and Human Interactions. The University is seeking emerging and established scholars with interdisciplinary interests and expertise including (but not limited to) climate change, water supply, pollution, policy, and society’s response. Applicants may be hired in the following departments: Anthropology, Chemistry, Geography, Marine Sciences, Political Science, Public Policy, and/or Sociology.

Research in the Geography Department at the University of Connecticut is organized around the following themes: 1) Spatial Analysis of Social Issues, 2) Geographic Information Science & Systems, 3) Earth System Science, and 4) Human-Environment Dynamics. The interdisciplinary identity of the department, integration of human and physical dimensions, and emphasis on spatial thinking align with the goals of this cluster hire. We encourage applicants focused on research themes that align well with our College’s recent Strategic Plan and topics including, but not limited to: climate change, environmental justice, natural hazards, renewable energy, environmental management, water resources, resilience, and sustainability. Human and physical geographers, and researchers in related disciplines, are encouraged to apply. Applicants should demonstrate how they would contribute to the interdisciplinary nature of the UConn CLAS cluster hire in Environment and Human Interactions through collaborative research, teaching, and public engagement.
