Friends,

We've all been there- passing countless hours waiting for someone or something, and so we grab out our phone and start surfing the web... or checking Instagram... or our Facebook... or ad nauseum... I was recently introduced to something called "MapSwipe". MapSwipe is an open-source mobile app that is making mapping around the world more coordinated and efficient. Volunteers swipe through satellite images looking for features (i.e.: buildings, roadways, waterways, etc.) and tap once when they have located them. This is far more productive than watching yet another disappointing "funny cat video" on tik tok or checking on the latest gossip about the Kardashian family. It's incredibly addictive, productive, and allows you to contribute to the world in a positive way with just the tap of your finger!!! From the comfort of a mobile phone, MapSwipe allows any individual to support humanitarian response. Aim to proactively map places in the world that are most vulnerable to crisis before a crisis happens. MapSwipe is part of the Missing Maps Project- an organization that works to map the most vulnerable places in the developing world, in order that international and local NGOs and individuals can use the maps and data to better respond to crises affecting the areas.

For the app, you can find it on your phone's respective app market place. It's free! It's fun! It's helping the world!

Kind regards,
Thad
