Dear international students and scholars,

As you may know, Connecticut is expected to experience a significant snowstorm starting tonight, into tomorrow. If you will need to get any last-minute groceries or other supplies, you should get those today, as travel tomorrow could be dangerous. The storm will be a Nor'easter, which you can read about here. Snowstorms can sometimes lead to power outages, so make sure your devices are charged, and that you have any supplies you need in case you lose light/heat (flashlight, warm layers, hats/gloves, blankets, food that does not require cooking, etc.). The ISSS office at UConn Storrs will not be open tomorrow to the public.

Here are some resources available to help you learn more about winter weather safety:
UConn Alert-Get Emergency Alerts from the University, including weather closings
ISSS Winter Weather webpage
Ready.gov Winter Weather safety and preparation

Local news/weather websites:
NBC Connecticut
WFSB
WTNH

Need something cozy to do during the storm? Read a short story for the ISSS Winter Book Club, and join us virtually on Monday, December 21, to discuss the story.  Make sure to sign up here if you will join.

Best wishes,

Rae Alexander
