I think a summary of efforts towards state parcel data in CT would be a useful resource and also make for a fascinating presentation at a CT GIS network Meeting. There have been a lot of efforts in various formats Eric covered some of the
latest efforts. I’ll share some that come to mind off the top of my head, this is by no means an authoritative list.
I also heard a story that a state parcel gis program back in the day (early 2000’s?) was nearly passed but due to a change of administration was halted or something like that.
But without a doubt, regularly updated, authoritative property data for the state would be fantastic! Working with OPM in the standards committee ahs been rewarding, I think we’re making some progress in that direction.
For those who have corrections or additions to that list please feel free to chime in.

Hi Carol,
In 2018, the Connecticut General Assembly passed Public Act 18-175 into law. Section 6 of that act requires each municipality to submit a digital parcel file, and some assessment data, to the Council of Governments (COGs) of which it is
a member on an annual basis. The Office of Policy and Management (OPM) subsequently asks the COGs to voluntarily share the data so it can be made available for public consumption. Due to COVID-19, municipalities were provided an extension of time to submit
their digital parcel files for 2020, and the COGs are now in the process of aggregating and sending files to OPM. I will make a post on the listserv once collection is complete and the files have been posted for download.
The Connecticut GIS Network spearheads a GIS Standards Committee that includes various subcommittees. One of the subcommittees is working on the development of a standard CAMA report that would be run for each municipality in the state.
Upon completion, such CAMA report would allow for a consistent parcel file schema for all municipalities, and allow for much easier comparison and analysis of parcel data on a regional or statewide level (without compromising the ability of municipalities
to run their own custom reports if desired).
Despite these efforts, the State currently lacks the capacity and resources to administer a GIS program as robust as some other states. Recent advocacy for dedicated GIS funding has received some attention from policy advisors and lawmakers,
so there is a possibility that a statewide parcel program, among other things, will be improved down the road. —Eric

Hi folks
Can anyone provide me with a summary of efforts that have been undertaken over the years to get a statewide dataset of land parcels (like the project that MASSGIS undertook)? I am curious to know
what the rationale is for not doing this because it is a critical foundation for evidence-based decision-making.
