Overview

The AOT GIS Professional III opening within the VTrans Mapping Section is a high-level GIS position that will involve developing, implementing, and maintaining core functions and systems of the Mapping Section. Work will include the processing of Mileage Certificates and collaborating with municipalities to address highway mileage inquiries, performing field inventories, and maintaining the road centerline data layer and associated GIS layers. Additional duties include updating the Town Highway Maps and other standard map series, supporting data for the Route Logs, creation of other data and mapping products, management of existing databases, and using ArcGIS applications, MS Access, and other database management tools.

This position offers some flexibility within the schedule and will work 40 hours per week. Position will be remote until September 1, then will be partially remote and partially at Barre City Place, or another location, at least one day per week.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting although regional office visits will require travel. Fieldwork may be required from. Attendance at meetings, seminars or conferences outside of normal work hours may be necessary. Manual dexterity is required in operating the computer and GIS-related hardware, as are good eyesight and eye-hand coordination.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, computer science, engineering, a natural resources field, transportation, engineering, or other closely related field.

OR

Associate's degree or two years of college coursework in GIS, geography, computer science, engineering, a natural resources field or other field closely related to mapping and GIS AND two (2) or more years of experience in GIS, geography, computer science, engineering, a natural resources field, transportation, engineering, or other closely related field.

OR

Four (4) or more years of experience in GIS, geography, computer science, engineering, a natural resources field, transportation, engineering, or other closely related field.
