Good morning,

I write to share with you that Scott Jordan, who has served as UConn's Executive Vice President for Administration and Chief Financial Officer since 2015, recently let me know that he has accepted a position at Harvard University and will be leaving UConn at the end of the fiscal year on June 30, 2021.

Later this summer, he will assume his new role as Dean of Administration and Finance for Harvard's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, which is the largest division of Harvard University, comprising Harvard College<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcollege.harvard.edu%2F&data=04%7C01%7C%7C3af5b30c26f0444a2dd708d925dd6e75%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637582455226783438%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=caHW4BWXB6OgLqQ08apOyx3pGnZGfumAgYlu9CN1ETo%3D&reserved=0> and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgsas.harvard.edu%2F&data=04%7C01%7C%7C3af5b30c26f0444a2dd708d925dd6e75%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637582455226788417%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=KwV6Emqshq1JAKGcBBhvbUoVVDR8lbEvTXOt17FtwB4%3D&reserved=0>, the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.seas.harvard.edu%2F&data=04%7C01%7C%7C3af5b30c26f0444a2dd708d925dd6e75%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637582455226793389%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=sRF3LIfdc7un10hWXve3Tpycd0HBQ4%2BSKLmhHsI8Vgg%3D&reserved=0>, as well as libraries, museums, and athletics.

While we are sorry to lose a trusted colleague and experienced leader like Scott, this is clearly a terrific opportunity for him as he moves into the next phase of his career, and we offer him our best wishes.

As someone who has worked alongside Scott for the last six years, I have been continually impressed with his mastery of UConn's complex $1.4 billion budget and his effectiveness in working closely with key stakeholders, especially our Board of Trustees and the Connecticut General Assembly, among others. But above all I deeply appreciated his sense of collegiality, which was ever-present; he has been a pleasure to work with.

Scott's most impressive accomplishments at UConn include balancing seven consecutive operating budgets without disruptive mid-year cuts; execution of a capital finance plan that included construction of the UConn Hartford campus, UConn Stamford student housing, the Innovation Partnership Building, Peter J. Werth Residence Tower, the Student Recreation Center, and new facilities for baseball, softball, and soccer; working with the research community to reduce our fringe rate; strengthening UConn's administration through investments in state-of-the-art business systems for project management, travel, procurement, and facilities maintenance; and the establishment of UConn's Office of Emergency Management.

We will soon announce how we plan to continue Scott's good work, but in the meantime, please join me in congratulating Scott on this new opportunity, in thanking him for his service to UConn, and in wishing him and his wife Rebecca and their family all the best.

Warm regards,

Andy
