Dear international students,

ISSS would like to remind students who are traveling to UConn in the coming days of important information related to your arrival.

Understanding your COVID-19 testing and quarantine guidelines:

Depending on your vaccination status and where you have traveled from, you may need to follow a quarantine after arrival. Students who are fully vaccinated with an FDA or WHO approved vaccine do not need to quarantine after international or domestic travel.

Students who are not fully vaccinated, and arrive from a U.S. location, or from an international location that is not subject to geographic entry-restriction to the U.S., should follow a modified quarantine for seven days. During this time, you may attend class, get food, and attend medical appointments, but should otherwise stay home and avoid non-essential activities outside your residence.

Students who are not fully vaccinated and arrive from an international location that is subject to geographic entry-restriction to the U.S. (China, Iran, India, South Africa, Brazil, Schengen Area of Europe, Ireland, UK), should follow a medical quarantine for seven days. During this time, you may not attend class, but you may leave your residence to get food and attend medical appointments/screenings.

All students who have arrived from international travel, regardless of vaccination status, should be tested for COVID-19 just prior to travel, upon or soon after arrival, and 5-7 days after arrival. Information about accessing a COVID-19 test can be found here<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fisss.uconn.edu%2Fisss-covid-19-faq%2F%23collapsepanel-10144-0-0-14&data=04%7C01%7C%7C5a3150ba2cff46bbd5cc08d964df1f26%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637651731734216873%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=dt6EBKoCEy9t8e%2BwOY%2FPCLJ%2FqJtk%2BFHcI4U7eOclqT4%3D&reserved=0>. Resources for students who arrive:

Please check out the ISSS Arrival Resources<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fviewerng%2Fviewer%3Furl%3Dhttps%3A%2F%2Fisss.uconn.edu%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F76%2F2020%2F08%2FISSS-Arrival-Resources.pdf%26hl%3Den&data=04%7C01%7C%7C5a3150ba2cff46bbd5cc08d964df1f26%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637651731734246851%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=TapIRGX%2FQ0U37jDrLXPXXbcDYKWlXFJOTAJvacUh%2Bt8%3D&reserved=0>, which may be useful for students who wish to avoid leaving their residence if self-quarantining. Immigration documents needed to travel:

Returning students should carry your I-20 issued for “Continued Attendance” with a travel signature on page 2, signed by ISSS in the travel section within the last 12 months, your passport valid at least six months into the future, and your unexpired F-1 visa (exception: Canadian/Bermudian students do not need a visa). Present these documents to the U.S. immigration officer when you return.

If you are not sure whether you have an I-20 with a valid travel signature, you can look in your ISSS Portal account. Go to isssportal.uconn.edu and find your records on the left side of your profile. Find your “Academic Objective” record and click on it (you will find this under the term/year that you started your program). In the “documents” tab of your Academic Objective, you can find your saved I-20s. If you have an I-20 signed by ISSS for travel within the last 12 months, and the form information is still correct, you should download, print, and sign your form before you travel.

If you are a new student, you may enter the U.S. with an I-20 or DS-2019 in the 30 days before your program start date listed on the form. You will also need a passport valid at least six months into the future, and an unexpired F-1 or J-1 visa.
