*Message sent from a system outside of UConn.*

Hello fellow Huskies,

I am reaching out to you to spread the word that the fall 2021 elections are officially underway, with over 30 Senate seats available. All residential Senate seats are up for election, including 10 for commuter/off-campus students. The available academic Senate seats open include CLAS, Business, Engineering, CAHNR, ACES, and Education. There are also a few open Multicultural and Diversity Senate seats.

The undergraduate Student Senate makes up the largest elected body of representatives in USG. Any student regardless of major, experience level, or time spent at the university can run for Senate. In fact, we want and encourage a wide array of candidates to run. We need students from all across UConn to be a voice for the many diverse experiences here, or else we cannot make effective choices truly representative of the population.

Serving as a Senator requires attendance at biweekly Senate and Caucus meetings at 6:30 p.m. on alternating Wednesdays, attendance at an assigned advocacy committee, and a weekly office hour.

For more information about USG, the election, or more about what being a Senator entails, please take a look at the Fall 2021 Election Packet<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fdocument%2Fd%2F18D7u3V9Anagd0YMDggvKaYW2cd1ULWmpEXo2UUpu1ws%2Fedit%3Fusp%3Dsharing&data=04%7C01%7C%7C0b7345a9866746c3c4cf08d97935754a%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637674092770956278%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=M0l7jXjumW%2BaTnwl1fNJfDc6zCvLyY9LqlTb%2Bj7W4xM%3D&reserved=0>. If you are unsure or can’t commit to running in the fall elections but want to get involved in USG anyways, check out USG’s weekly advocacy committees at https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fusg.uconn.edu%2Fcommittees%2F&data=04%7C01%7C%7C0b7345a9866746c3c4cf08d97935754a%7C17f1a87e2a254eaab9df9d439034b080%7C0%7C0%7C637674092770966271%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=Q6r0%2FZK0Z%2F31RIJ%2FUFmmhwCqx8TdBK9PvaWvebK%2Ff7I%3D&reserved=0. Any undergraduate student is welcome to show up, speak and vote in these meetings. Make your voice heard. If you dislike the way things are going in USG and at the university in general, I encourage you to join and be the change you wish to see.

Please remember to vote during the election, which will run from Tuesday, September 28 at noon until Thursday, September 30 at noon. If you have any questions regarding the election, please email me directly at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. Stay safe and be well.

Thank you,
