What is geographic information systems (GIS), why does it matter in our world, and how can you learn more about it for instructional purposes and beyond? Join geographer Joseph Kerski for a fast-paced 60 minute tour through the world of mapping and analysis. We will touch on many key 21st Century topics: Health, Hazards, Water, Equity, Climate and Weather, Population Change, and more. We will discuss web mapping tools such as dashboards, story maps, field surveys, and ArcGIS Online interactive maps. Plus, we will have FUN!geo-music parodies (Goin’ to the Field, You and Me Making Maps…), GIS crosswords, map quizzes, and much more.  As this webcast is aimed at attracting new people to GIS and is not overly technical, it may be the perfect venue for you to tell someone about who is new to the field, or someone (an educator, a colleague, even a friend or family member) who you have been trying to interest in GIS.
