A syllabus for how the course has been taught recently is available upon request. This course will be taught on Mondays and Wednesdays 1:30-2:45pm, although it may be possible to negotiate a different time/day. Instructors must also be willing to offer the course online if needed. Open only to undergraduates, Intro to GIS introduces students to the foundation of Geographic Information Systems theory, technology, and applications. Topics include GIS data discovery, data structures and management, principles of cartographic visualization, and spatial analysis. Assignments apply concepts covered in lectures and a term project in each student’s fields of interest is expected. Qualifications Candidates should have an MS or PhD in GIS or geography, or an advanced degree in a related field and experience teaching GIS. Candidates must show evidence of successful teaching in GIS or closely related areas. Priority will be given to candidates that focus on environmental applications.
