Registration is now open for a new GIS Management Academy workshop: ‘Applying the GIS Code of Ethics for GIS Professionals – An Interactive Workshop’.

Even though GISPs – Certified GIS Professionals - are required to attest that they understand and will abide by the Code of Ethics, surveys have shown that most GIS professionals are not aware of or familiar with the Code. For the GIS profession to have stature and trust within society, it is necessary for GISPs and all GIS professionals to be familiar with and apply the code throughout their careers.

This workshop will help all GIS professionals and users understand the GIS Code of Ethics and prepare them to apply it when circumstances warrant. During the past few years several high-profile cases related to the GIS Code of Ethics have been publicized. Are you prepared to act if placed in a situation that might require you to violate the Code?  Are you able to discuss the Code with employers, colleagues, and customers to frame the ethical limits of applying geographic information science and technology?
