This Geographic Information System (GIS) Professional IV position is within the Asset Management Bureau and will be be part of a team that is constantly innovating new ways to ensure
that the Agency of Transportation (AOT) makes the best data-driven decisions on behalf of all Vermonters. Whether working with front line staff to help make data collection more efficient, comprehensive. and useful, or creating compelling visuals to inform
decision making, your contributions will support the investment hundreds of millions of dollars in Vermont's transportation network.
As a member of this team, you will join a talented group who are constantly thinking outside the box to achieve our mission. Some examples of work might include writing python to automate geoprocessing, building ESRI field data collection apps, compiling reports
to submit to the Federal Highway Administration, building GIS-based web apps, managing projects, or utilizing the Microsoft Power Platform. Whatever the challenge, you and your peers will work together to deliver solutions to challenging problems.
A strong candidate will have a very solid foundation in GIS (specifically ESRI), a firm grasp of data management concepts, works well in a team environment, and is a constant learner.
Occasional, in-office collaboration days will require the incumbent to commute to the Agency of Transportation office in Barre, VT. Outside of occasional collaboration days, the incumbent may apply to work remotely.

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting although regional office visits will require travel. Fieldwork may be required. Attendance at meetings, seminars or conferences
outside of normal work hours may be necessary. Manual dexterity is required in operating computers and GIS-related hardware, as are good eyesight and eye-hand coordination.
Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, computer science, transportation, engineering, or other closely related field AND two (2) or more years of experience in GIS, geography, computer
science, , transportation, engineering, or other closely related field.
OR
Associate's degree or two (2) years of college coursework in GIS, geography, computer science, transportation, engineering, or other closely related field AND four (4) or more years
of experience in in GIS, geography, computer science, transportation, engineering, or other closely related field.
OR
Six (6) or more years of experience in in GIS, geography, computer science, transportation, engineering, or other closely related field.
Experience in Python, Microsoft Power Platform (PowerBI, Power Apps, Power Query, Power Automate), Linear Reference Systems and transportation industry concepts are preferred.
