Seats are still available for a new online interactive GIS Management Academy workshop: ‘Applying the GIS Code of Ethics for GIS Professionals’. This two-hour workshop will be presented on Tuesday, March 15.

In an age of ‘alternate facts’ and ‘truthiness’ it is critical that GIS professionals maintain their stature as trusted stewards and science-based analysts of spatial data that represents geographic reality.

Even though GISPs – Certified GIS Professionals - are required to attest that they understand and will abide by the Code of Ethics, surveys have shown that most GIS professionals are not aware of or familiar with the Code. For the GIS profession to maintain trust within society, it is necessary for all GIS users to be familiar with and know how to apply the code. This workshop will provide an in-depth review of the GIS Code of Ethics and include interactive discussions to understand how to apply the Code in real-world situations.

The instructor Greg Babinski is a GISP and AGS EthicalGEO Fellow.
