Job Opening: Transportation/GIS Analyst with the Capital District Transportation Committee (CDTC)

 

Description

The Capital District Transportation Committee (CDTC) is the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for New York’s Capital Region based in Albany, New York. CDTC works with our State, regional and local government partners to plan for and implement a safe, resilient, and modern transportation system. CDTC is seeking a Transportation/GIS Analyst to join our team. Responsibilities will include developing, maintaining, and analyzing spatial data and using GIS to support transportation planning for various transportation modes and planning programs, including safety planning. Additionally, the Transportation/GIS Analyst should have an understanding and interest in the basic principles of transportation planning and other urban systems. The Transportation/GIS Analyst will be supervised by the Executive Director and Director of GIS/Data Services and is expected to be a self- starter, capable of managing multiple tasks concurrently. The successful candidate will be well organized, detail- oriented and meet these additional qualifications:

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

·         Master’s degree in GIS, geospatial sciences, geography, planning, data science, or a related field, or a GIS concentration or certificate within transportation planning, urban and regional planning, or a closely related field with two (2) years of workplace experience using GIS technologies; OR

·         Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geospatial sciences, geography, planning, data science, or a related field, or a GIS concentration or certificate within transportation planning, urban and regional planning, or a closely related field with four (4) years of workplace experience using GIS technologies; OR

·         An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined above.

Relevant Skills

Responsibilities

         Collecting, researching, managing, and analyzing transportation planning and infrastructure data, including demographic data (ACS, CTPP, & 2020 Census), crash data for safety planning and data related to performance measures

         Building, enriching, and maintaining databases and geodatabases

         Creating maps and reports to support regional and local planning studies

Salary range begins at $60,000.

CDTC’s office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. I work remotely on Fridays.

 

CDTC is the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga (except the Town of Moreau and Village of South Glens Falls) and Schenectady Counties responsible for regional transportation planning and the allocation of federal transportation funds to capital projects.
