GIS Technician Position(s)

New England GeoSystems is currently looking to fill multiple full-time positions based out of our Branford, CT office. 

We are a closely knit team providing a wide range of GIS consulting services to municipalities, regional entities, and private companies across New England and New York since 2005.

GIS Technicians

Duties & Responsibilities

The initial primary duties & responsibilities will include development, maintenance and improvement of municipal parcel, easement, zoning and wetland datasets. This right person will be expected to have experience in working with municipal datasets and be knowledgeable in the use of COGO drafting techniques, deed interpretation and georeferencing.

This is a unique opportunity to refine and improve skills in managing municipal parcel datasets and to learn and experience the importance of following a standardized and efficient methodology of data development and maintenance.  Potential areas of additional exposure would be in the areas of public utilities, planning, public safety, planimetric and other essential municipal GIS datasets.  Occasional field data collection opportunities using Esri’s mobile apps (Field Maps / Survey 123) may be available.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate(s) will have at least 2 years of experience working with municipal GIS datasets, with an above average attention to detail, possess cartographic awareness, and has ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and clients.

Candidates need to have working experience using the Esri suite of products, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap and ArcGIS Online. Additional skills such as MS Office with a familiarity of MS Access and SQL a plus.

Administrative

Positions are full time office-based positions based out of our Branford, CT office. All positions require completion of a four-year degree in a related field and professional work experience.

Since the way business is conducted these days has evolved, options have been made available for all staff to work remotely at differing levels. A familiarization of clients, projects and workflows is the first goal of any new employee and initially this goal is best met with an experience weighed more towards . Once a working relationship has been established, these options can be explored.

Benefits for a full-time position including health, life, disability and retirement will be available after a short waiting period and performance evaluation. Salary is based on experience and is expected to be in the range of $21 - $25/hr.
