Dear NEARC colleagues,

Apologies for not sending this earlier. I thought the CT GIS Network had better proximity, but NEARC also has many members within reasonable distance to attend this lecture.

I hope you can join us! My promise to go to Mory’s after the talk also holds for NEARC members 😊

Description automatically generatedFor many years now, the gaming industry has been in a race to build the most photorealistic and immersive games, incorporating realistic interaction models, atmospherics, physics, etc. The fierce competition has resulted in software and hardware technologies that deliver high-performance experiences on a variety of devices, including VR headsets, AR devices, desktops, phones, and tablets.

Developers are realizing that these software and hardware technologies can be used to deliver new classes of applications across a broad range of industries, applications like fully immersive simulations, collaborative planning tools, or hyper-realistic visualizations of assets. Developers can build world-scale AR, tabletop AR, and VR experiences for industries as diverse as AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction), Utilities, Transportation, Defense, Public Safety, Natural Resources, and Education to name just a few (source.)
