Dear International Huskies,

Are you planning to travel outside the U.S. during Spring Break next week? If so, you must report your travel before you depart the U.S.  You must have a valid travel signature on your I-20 or DS-2019 when reentering the country. Please check page two of your current I-20 or DS-2019 to determine if you already have a valid signature.  As a reminder, travel signatures are valid for one year from date of issue (if a current student).  You must still report your travel even if you do not require a travel signature.

If you plan to travel during a break period and need a travel signature, you must submit a travel request through the ISSS website.

Once processed, you will be notified with instructions for retrieving your I-20 with travel signature through the ISSS portal.

As a general reminder, all ISSS processing takes approximately one to two weeks to complete. Please submit any requests through the appropriate link to ISSS at least two weeks prior to the date needed. While a valid travel signature is not needed to leave the US, it is needed to reenter so please plan accordingly to ensure that you have it before returning from any trip abroad. If you will not be traveling until after the semester ends you can wait and submit your travel signature next month.

Update Your DUO Settings Before International Travel

Don’t get locked out of UConn services when you travel abroad, update your DUO settings!  Before departing the U.S. be sure that you download and set up DUO 2FA for authentication via PUSH NOTIFICATION on your mobile phone.  Update your DUO settings so that it will work when you travel internationally. Set up your DUO so that you receive PUSH NOTIFICATIONS not text messages.  This way when you travel internationally you can still use DUO even if you can no longer receive text messages.  Please see the following ITS KB for more information: https://kb.uconn.edu/space/IKB/10748724271/Duo+2FA+for+International+Students+and+Travelers  contact [log in to unmask] or 860-486-4357 if you have any questions about updating your DUO settings.

Have a good trip!

Best,
