Looking for a low-stress, high-impact way to volunteer a few hours to help fellow humans
around the world? Are you near the Rochester, NY area?
Monroe Community College offers online/remote GIST
education including a new 9-credit micro-credential and a 24-credit certificate. The College also has a very active Mapping Club which, as the first NYS Community College chapter of
YouthMappers, frequently hosts an event called a mapathon. It's an easy and fun way to volunteer and give back to the global community by digitizing buildings/roads in unmapped areas in the world based on satellite basemap imagery as part of a
Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team task.
No geospatial skills required, just a willingness
to learn/help and a free OpenStreetMap account!
MCC's Spring 2024 mapathon is THIS
THURSDAY 3/21 at the Brighton campus at 2PM. Check out the flyer attached or
